Getting Started
Wheatland Karting Association welcomes new members.
Here are some tips on how to get started.
First, come out and watch a race. It's free to
watch. But, if you are serious about learning more, I'd suggest
you purchase a pit pass. No one is allowed in the pit area without
a pit pass. This covers the cost of insurance as well as contributing
to the track funds. You'll immediately notice how well maintained
the track is and this is a result of a well managed club that
has developed over many years. The club is entirely made up of
volunteers. These individuals love the sport of racing and have
contributed to providing a quality facility for others to go racing.
Once you purchase your wristband, you'll have
your pit pass. Then, walk through the pits and visit with the
drivers and pit crews. What will you see?
You will:
* meet racers of every race, age, gender, and profession;
* see 15 different categories of karts racing;
* find drivers frantically repairing karts between races;
* children playing while Dad's and Mom's frantically make repairs;
* witness on track competition and off track sportsmanship;
* notice this is a family sport where your child doesn't sit on
the bench, but is in the game!
